There are no words to convey the feeling of love, the friendship and the outright hard work that went on last Saturday at my home church, Metro South. A team of us went early to set up tables and get organized and the workers began to arrive. It wasn’t long until the place was full of happy, hard working, joyful friends that got every single dress sized and packed and in boxes ready to ship. We had an area of dedicated seamstresses with their men cutting material, their children moving dresses, their sisters measuring. Simply amazing to see the community come together from as far as Saginaw and Ohio, Bloomfield Hills and our surrounding areas such as Taylor, Southgate, Trenton. Thank you all so much.
We are beginning the plans for our Auction again this year. I have checked with our professional auctioneer from SC, Tim Ryan and he has confirmed a date of November 13, 2010. Please mark the date now. I need your support even if you can’t attend to get these dresses out of storage and on the backs of the little girls. We have been running on the money from last year’s event but we are getting low. I am sure that God will provide but I am reminding you to please be His ambassadors, if you are able. I will need items that you make for the auction if we have quilters out there, or baby blanket sewers, or artists. Calling all creative people who are looking for a way to help this ministry. Ask your friends, neighbors and family. If you know someone please contact me and let’s get these items in early this year so I don’t have to worry about it while I’m in Africa in September. Will you help me? And then when the work is finished, we will put on our party dresses and head to the Hall for a fun night of celebration. More to follow!
I am on my way over to accept an award from the DAR on all of your behalf. We are changing lives here and across the ocean and they want to thank us for it. Pictures to follow! Thank you all so much!
