We’re leaving on a Jet Plane…. Friday

All the planning and fund raising and praying for things to work out have come together, and we are confidently stepping out!  On Friday, September 17, 2010, I will be leading a team of 10 women to Malawi, Africa.  We will be hosted,  for two weeks, by Ministry of Hope, an amazing organization.    Because of your generosity, we will be delivering 200 Bibles, conducting Bible School classes in several locations, feeding children breakfast and lunch, conducting classes for the Widows and young mothers,  delivering “Buckets of Hope”, and spreading the hope of Jesus to all that we see.  All along the way, we will be delivering Little Dresses that you have generously and lovingly made for the children of Africa.

We are so excited!  Thank you all so much for making this happen.  I will do my best to get some great pictures and post them as soon as we return.  Hopefully, some of you will find your little dress in the pictures, but whether you do or not, trust me, you are appreciated and the kids will love what you are sending.  Thank you so much!

Quick reminder, while we are gone, time marches on, so when we return Oct 2, 2010, we will be only six weeks away from our big Fund Raiser of the year.  This year the theme is “Changing Lives Here and Across the Ocean.”  Trust me, you ARE changing lives.  As churches, communities, individuals, and families join together to help others, these dresses change lives before they ever leave the United States to offer relief to the children.

If any of you are nearby, or would like to visit beautiful Michigan in November, we would love to see you in person. Mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov 13, 2010 at 6pm at the Italian American Hall.  I guarantee an amazing dinner and Auction.  Tim Ryan is returning again this year to host the Auction and he’s talented, amazing and funny.  You will have a great night.  Tickets will be available in October at $38/each.  Please plan on attending or sponsoring a table.

Please send your donations for the live auction while I’m gone to Africa,  if at all possible.  If you know someone that makes something really neat, please ask them on our behalf to donate it for our Auction.  Home made things are great.  If you sell items, consider donating something.  We have had baskets, quilts, dolls, makeup, and more, in the past.  Please surprise me while I’m gone and get those in the mail.  This is our big fund raiser and we count on it to raise the majority of our shipping costs for throughout the year.  Thank you in advance!

You are all amazing and I can’t thank you enough for all you do.  I know we are always asking for your help, but that’s how we get it done.  It is so exciting to see the hand of God on this ministry.  A quick update to share with your friends:  Over 100,000 dresses have been received from all 50 states as well as the UK, Australia, and Canada.  We have delivered them to 16 countries in Africa as well as some to Hondurus, Haiti, Guatamala and Mexico.  Because of you! It takes all of us!

You really are changing lives one little dress at a time!  Zikomo!  Love you!

Rachel

P.S.  Please be patient.  I won’t be able to check email, open boxes, send responses or get back with you until the middle of October.  Thanks for your patience and thanks for all you do!
