Happy Spring, Sewers!
Lots of people have been asking about what sizes are needed most right now. We usually have more mediums than any other size, so large, x-large and smalls are needed most. Also every size of boys shorts and don’t forget to get involved with sanipanties. There’s a pattern on line now but basically, just sew up a pad with thick absorbant material. It’s a very important ministry and keeps girls in school. Feel free to modify the pattern to what you think works. Any time you can help with shipping costs, it’s fantastic but not required. Remember, these dresses and shorts go out every week to mission teams who are traveling and they are being distributed all over the world now. We have sent well over 1.5 million to 46 countries in Africa and other countries in need but we will NOT run out of children so keep sewing and pass the word. I’ll be at a Global conference in Nashville next month spreading the word. Also, don’t forget many businesses have matching programs where they will send a check for volunteer hours that you work for LDFA. Ask them! I’ll send any necessary paperwork to verify it. And also, while I’m at it, no straight pins please! Ouch! And if you can, size your dresses or bundle them by sizes. No need to pack them in baggies anymore but you are welcome to send air tight bags that we can use during packing and distribution. Thank you so much for all you do!!!! We continue to grow but we are NOT going to run out of children so keep sewing and God bless you for helping the most vulnerable. Be sure to read the comments in “snippets”. You are definately making a difference and remember we are 100% volunteer so your money goes straight to the kids and projects. We will be collecting toothbrushes for our August trip. And watch your mail and email for information on our Sock Hop for Hope June 15, 2013. We will have a special guest star from the 50’s which you will not want to miss. Let’s just say he’ll “love you tender”! Get your poodle skirts and leather jackets ready for an awesome night of food, music, and surprises. Tickets are available on line for $35 each or write me. Plan your vacations to be near Michigan and remember these fund raisers are how we pay for shipping and projects. It’s how we built the school, sent the container, built the house, sent 1.5 million dresses, feed the poor, buy Bibles and mosquito nets, and Buckets of Hope. All of this costs money but we are diligent in making sure it gets to the specific project that you request. If you can’t attend, we’d still LOVE to have your support by sponsoring a table or sending a check directly or on line. It takes all of us. Thank you so much and LOVE you!
