Thursday, October 22… 4th Thursday work night!

Hello!
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the change in seasons! This is a gorgeous time in Michigan. Just a quick reminder for those of you who are local, we will be meeting as usual for our 4th Thursday work time in Brownstown at 7pm. Contact me for details or if you have questions. We spend this time sizing and packaging the dresses that have arrived since our last work session. We also use this time to package them to be ready to ship in boxes that are mailed and also in army duffles that are ready to go with mission teams that are leaving soon. We have been contacted by several groups and because of the success of the recent fund raiser we are able to answer the call to many groups who are requesting the dresses. Today 3 boxes are on the way to Washington, D.C. to go with a volunteer to South Africa, which is a new part of Africa for us. This will be out 10th country in Africa so we’re excited to add them to the list! Another 200 dresses are on their way in November to Kenya. I also have a volunteer ready to take some to Johanassburg if anyone has a christian group or mission team that they know of that can receive the dresses for distribution. Please contact me with any information or questions that you might have. It’s always better to mail them domestically if at all possible due to the cost savings and send them with mission teams that will agree to take them as their extra baggage and distribute them to the children. Please remember, if you have a group that would like to take some dresses, let me know and have them contact me so that these dresses are distributed correctly and we don’t cause any problems for the people receiving them. If we aren’t very careful in how we do this, we can make trouble for the locals and also stop our further efforts. No one wants to do this so be sure to contact me and we’ll work together to get them there in a way that will honor the mission and the children.
This month we have received some gorgeous dresses from all over the country and several “britches for boys”! We got another 200 dresses from the workers at the Greenhouse in Saginaw. Your work is always so pretty! We really feel the love as we look through them and get them ready to go. Thanks, Jean and Howard, for bringing them down on Saturday. Last night we also received a package of dresses from Charmouth, UK.  Amazing how this mission has spread even across to the UK now!  Thanks to Hazel for sending those beautiful little dresses. Thanks to everyone for your help in getting these dresses to the little girls. As always, thank you for making a difference in the lives of these little girls!
Love and gratitude,
Rachel
