In Detroit we enjoyed strolling through the Detroit Historical Museum and tasting the different foods of Greektown, D-town and Mexicantown as Motown music filled the air. Amazing drummer and musician. Jeff Trudell put together the best of Detroit with a 10 piece live band featuring lead singers and musicians, not the least being his father, famous Motown trumpet players, Johnny Trudell.
Everyone had a chance at some great prizes in the Detroit D-Drop and the Live Auction, led by Karl and Noreen, brought the excitement to a crescendo and raised fantastic support for the children. The live auction boasted some fantastic and generous items from our sponsors and donors such as a a Shinola watch, a trip to Italy, a Cathedral window hand-stitched collectors quilt, and a fabulous trip in a limo to the Michigan Opera Theater to experience “The Marriage of Figaro”. Thanks again to our sponsors and generous supporters for such great bid items.
Last year we were able to build a girls hostel for 200 girls rescued from child marriages by Senior Chief Kachindamoto. We built the structure, bought and put together bunk beds, got mattresses and bedding and quilts and pillows and opened it in May 2017 with great celebration. This year our goal is to construct a Technical Sewing Center and fill it with donated sewing machines. This center will offer the girls and women not only a trade, but a sustainable income for the future. And this is all, because we joined together to help the most vulnerable through Little Dresses for Africa.
Thank you so much for your unbelievable help.
