Preparing for Malawi 2010

We are getting so excited as we make our plans for Malawi 2010! Please keep the team in your prayers as we make our preparations. A deposit has been made is to take 12 dedicated and hardworking individuals to Malawi, East Africa, to work with Ministry of Hope in September 2010. We will also be working with Feeding International for a few days. Thank you all so much for your help. I received a check for 50 “Buckets of Hope” the day after I sent out the notice to some supporters. It filled me with gratitude and an assurance that we will reach the goals that we have set for this trip so that we can serve the people of Africa.
Projects include:$2000- 200 Bibles @ $10 each (100 English, 100 Chechewa)
$2500- Materials for repairing and painting the Nan Ray School of Learning (named for my mother!)
$3000-200 “Buckets of Hope” @ $15 each. They will contain oil, salt, rice and a mosquito net, and will be personally delivered by our team, to those suffering from AIDS, and their care-givers, to offer hope and encouragement.
$250- to buy crafts for our Vacation Bible School. Our hope is to buy 2000 kits of beads and cross necklaces to teach the “steps of salvation” to the children.
Please let me know if your church or community group can help with any of these and I will apply it to the specific project that you request.

These projects are in addition to the $3000 that each traveler has committed to which will cover flight, very basic lodging, food, transportation, fuel, translator and water. It is a serious sacrifice to take this trip. These travelers are giving up their money (in tough times!), their vacation time from work, the comfort of their homes, the familiar surroundings, to serve the most vulnerable. I am deeply humbled and appreciative of their sacrifice. In exchange I believe, with all my heart, they will be blessed beyond measure with memories, experiences and a love for the people of Africa that will last a life time. Thank you so much for your help and encouragement. Please pray for this team as they prepare.
Love, Rachel
