HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- The Stitching and Quilting Ministry Group with Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church have joined efforts with an International awareness organization to make clothes for children in Africa.
Little Dresses for Africa is the name of the project. Members have been sewing with donated material since September. The goal was to complete 200 dresses, but they were able to exceed that number and make 407. Members also sewed more than 150 shorts for little boys.
The dresses are on display through the weekend at the church. “We hope that in some way our little dresses can provide hope for little boys and little girls to let them know that others love them even many miles across the border,” said Flora Ector.
Organizers are now trying to raise enough money to ship the dresses to Browns Town, Michigan. From there, the clothes will go to different cities across Africa.
