I hope you have the best holiday ever!
As I consider our nation’s holiday, I have to say, I have a special appreciation for each state this year! I feel personally connected to all of you as participants of this ministry. We have received dresses from all 50 states and I am so excited to celebrate with all of you. That’s community at its finest! Can you imagine knowing that someone in every state in the USA has a person or a group or several groups, working on the same project that you are involved with? Amazing! Thank you on behalf of the children. I am so honored to be working with you.
Last night we had a group of volunteers at the house helping to size and package and ready the dresses and shorts for shipping. Every time we gather to do this, we always wonder how in the world it will get done, but at the end of the evening, we always are thrilled to see our work completed or very close to it! I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate how you all join in. I have some very special volunteers in this area. I can tell you as we open the boxes and lay the dresses out and admire your work, we never get tired of seeing your creativity and your beautiful craftmanship in these little works of art. We feel the love in each piece that you send and in your sweet notes that are included.
We have learned a lot in the last couple of years and we are thankful for the help you give as you are sending your boxes. We are seeing more and more of you sending the dresses already sized, packaged and counted. Trust me, it means a lot to us! Thank you so much! We see more and more churches and community groups sending financial support for shipping costs. We see more and more people getting their mission teams at church involved and taking dresses with them on their trips to Africa. There is no way we could continue to grow the way we have without these specific acts of kindness to this ministry. You are the hands and feet of Jesus and I thank you so much.
I’m reminded of I John 3. You are all living out this scripture! “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” You have seen the need and you have shared your possessions, your talent and your blessings with the most vulnerable children. While doing this, you have testified to the love of Jesus to others and you have made this world a better place!
On this the 4th of July, take a moment if you will, and thank God for this great country and for our incredible blessings. We are truly a blessed nation and I am grateful for your generosity in sharing these blessings with the children of Africa. I love you! Thank you so much and Happy 4th!
