Just back from a wonderful speaking engagement in Richland, WA. Thank you, Little Dresses of the Tri-City area, for a wonderful weekend. Chris Macourek and her group have made close to 6000 beautiful dresses and sent them to us. It was a great time to celebrate with the sewers and supporters and celebrate we did! And what fun to put faces to the names I’ve known through the years for their beautiful work. After a wonderful potluck, we headed to the Richland Community Center for a chance to share the Little Dresses for Africa story and some tips on sewing from Chris. Huge thanks to our hostess, Chris and also the lovely group that took us to dinner that evening. Wow! Hospitality PLUS!
Thank you for another successful fundraiser for the projects in Malawi August 2013! We are so grateful to our sponsors and our sewers and all that attended or sent items for the auction. We had a surprise visit by The King of Rock N Roll, Elvis himself which added a lot of fun to the evening. Everyone really had a good time. “El Kabong” the band out did themselves and kept the dance floor full! Thank you one and all!!!!
One incredible opportunity has come up as a result of the auction. Two of our best supporters from Louisville, KY, not only came up with goodies for the auction, but brought two gorgeous canvas paintings for auction. The artist, Fifi LeFan, was moved by the pictures of the children in little dresses, that she painted two gorgeous paintings. We displayed them at the auction although a better place would have been an art show. The starting bid is $300 although by this artist, similar paintings have reported sales of $1500. We are thinking we may put them out for bid to those who have the heart and decor for such works of art. More details will follow. I’ll post pictures here and also under “Various Events” from the Sock Hop.
Because of your generosity we are very close to raising the money for all the projects we are wanting to do in August. We will be feeding kids, teaching, opening a well, two medical mission days, and distributing thousands of dresses and hundreds of Buckets of Hope. We will also be repairing hut roofs for widows and child-headed families. Your generosity changes lives and we’re so grateful! Thank you so much!!!
Save the date for this year’s FUN Fundraiser. JUNE 15, 2013 we will be rocking around the clock at a SOCK HOP! Get your poodle skirts ready and your leather jackets out of storage! Details to follow soon!!! Auction items accepted starting now!!! Thank you!

Friday, Aug 24, 2012 at 7pm. All ages welcome.
Six months is an amazing record of some kind for deciding to send a container, collecting enough to fill a 40ft truck, raising the money to pay for shipping, arranging the paperwork with the right contacts to ship and closing the doors on this amazing project. SOOOOO many of you made it possible from the very beginning. Auctions, fund raisers, school supplies, carrying items to my house, to the warehouse, packing boxes, loading the truck, riding an elephant, working a carnival…the list goes on and on. But, the container is on its way! To God be the glory! Today is the proposed ship date out of New York. It should arrive in Malawi, Africa in March to be unloaded by the team in April 2012. The joy that the items will bring is hard to imagine, but I’ll do my best to take lots of pictures. Thank you all so much for making this happen!
