Greek Philoptochos National Convention

We were honored to introduce Little Dresses for Africa  at the Greek Philoptochos National Convention in Westland, MI.  What a warm reception we received.  Thank you, Eleni for the invitation.  I look forward to many good things!

LDFA Debuts on “Sewing With Nancy”

Look for even more excitement with Little Dresses for Africa on December 20th and December 27th as they are featured on “Sewing With Nancy”.  We were excited to be interviewed in Madison, Wisconsin by the Producer and gracious host of the show, Nancy Zieman, who featured our little dresses in “Nancy’s Corner”.   “Nancy’s Corner” is a segment of the show that highlights ways to help others with your talent of sewing.  “Sewing With Nancy”  has been co-produced by Wisconsin Public Television and SWN Productions for 26 years and is the premiere Sewing Show on Public Television.  We are excited and honored to be part of this excellent way to spread the word and get more people involved as we all join together to offer relief to the children of Africa with our little dresses and associated projects.

Sending Hope Dinner Dance a Great Success!

Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming support of the “Sending Hope Dinner Dance and Live Auction” on Saturday, September 26, 2009.   Our auctioneer, Tim Ryan, did a great job in reminding each of us why we were there and the results were outstanding.  There will be many dresses sent as a result of every one’s generosity.  Special thanks to Tim and of course the entire work crew that made it such a great night.  The items donated were wonderful and it looked like everyone left with great memories and wonderful “prizes”.

Awesome items from generous donors brought high bids!

Also, big thanks to our sponsors.  Please honor their generosity by doing business with them whenever possible. Also, check out the pictures from the evening.  The money raised will be used for shipping materials and costs to get the dresses directly to the children.  If you know of a christian organization that would like to be considered for some dresses, please have them contact me.

Thanks to all!  Love and gratitude, Rachel

World of Talent Variety Show

Our first major fund raiser was at the Trenton Village Theater in Trenton, Michigan November 2007.  Our talented volunteers played to a full house.  Our goal for the evening was to raise $6,000 to help pay for the container project under the direction of Bill Richards of Hope  Endeavors.  With the help of gracious sponsors and a receptive crowd we raised an EXACT $6,000!  Not a penny more or a penny less.  As our preacher friend put it, “It is so cool when God puts his signature on something!”

Making a Difference Variety Show

“Making a Difference” was the theme of the Community Fund raising event for 2008.  The Children’s chorus, directed by Barbara Ingram brought down the house with a song in Zulu called “Syabumba”…”We are marching in the light of God”.   Once again many talented volunteers gave their all for an outstanding community event, this time at the Trenton High School.

Community Events

Little Dresses for Africa is always happy to speak to schools, church and community groups whenever possible to continue to spread the word and help the children.  We have been honored to be part of many programs and welcome the opportunity to speak to your group as a way of giving back to the generosity of so many.  Feel free to contact us if you feel that your group would benefit from this project as we share our story and continue to bring awareness to the plight of the little girls of Africa.
