Ways To Help Malawi Trip 2010

A team of 12 dedicated and excited humanitarians are planning a trip to Malawi, East Africa in September 2010. This team will be giving up the comforts of their homes, vacation time from work, $3000 of their own money for flights, lodging, food, fuel and transportation and taking a 24 hour flight to Malawi, to deliver the little dresses to the children. While we are there we will be teaching Bible classes, working with the children, doing repairs on the facilities and conducting home visits to the patients with AIDS in the villages. I am so grateful for this team that God is bringing together.
While we are there, along with the distribution of your beautiful dresses, we have been asked to bring 200 Bibles and so some repairs. I know so many of you have done so much but in order to make the most of our trip there are some projects we’d like to do in addition to distribution of the dresses. I will list the projects and if you are able to help in any way, please let me know which project you are supporting when you give on line or send tax deductible checks to:

The Spotted Rooster Cafe Sends Dresses!

If this isn’t an innovative and generous idea, I don’t know what is!  A precious soul has decided to use her blessings to bless others.  Celeste and her husband Jason Gallagher, have arranged to sell gourmet cookies in their cafe, The Spotted Rooster Cafe, in New Jersey and donate  the profit to help with shipping costs of the beautiful little dresses that you are all sewing.  Some SEW.  Some GO, and some donate cookie profits!  This is one more amazing way that we all work together to help the little girls of Central Africa.  Thank you all for your generosity and your willing spirits.  Together, we can and DO make a difference!

Another really cute idea was from a talented seamstress who makes pillow case dolls out of pillow cases.  She sells them for $35 and sends the check directly to Little Dresses for Africa.  I am constantly blown away by everyone’s dedication to these children.  So many people joining together to help others.  I am convinced that this world is made up of wonderful people and I have met a TON of them through Little Dresses for Africa.  If you are interested in one of these little dolls, let me know through this website and I’ll put you in touch with Alice Bailey.  Thank you, Alice!

We have some Little Dresses for Africa T-shirts for those that want to spread the word.  It’s a great way to advertise what we’re doing and get a conversation going.  We sold these at the recent Fund Raiser for a donation of $10.00.  If you’re interested you can send me a note and a check made out to Little Dresses for Africa for $10.00 to cover the costs of the shirts and I’ll cover the shipping as a thank you for your help.   The shirts are short sleeved cotton in black with the logo in white lettering.  I have sizes medium, large and extra-large.  I have a few children’s mediums in white.  We also have a very nice hard back book called “The Tall Black Woman and the Hawk” for a donation of $15.  It is a folk story about love for all ages and would make a nice holiday gift. Proceeds go to LDFA of course!   I’ll get a good picture up here soon!  You can also buy these through paypal and just let me know what the donation is for.  Thanks again for your help!  Rachel
